Försvarsmuseum Boden is a modern institution that places the history of Sweden and the Boden Fortress in a broader context. In the main exhibition, "Norrlands lås" ("Norrland’s Stronghold"), you can explore Swedish defense history from the late 19th century to the present day. The exhibition highlights Sweden's role in world politics during times of unrest and peace. It guides you from the extensive mobilization during World War I, through the interwar period, World War II, and the Cold War, to the present day, where the Swedish defense has been reoriented towards global peacekeeping missions.
As a visitor, you journey through time along a timeline that showcases events shaping Swedish defense policy throughout the 20th century. The museum also features temporary exhibitions on current societal themes that aim to engage and provoke thought.
