Gunnar Hansson (b. 1938) has been active as an artist and craftsman for over 40 years. He works primarily in wood, but also in copper. He primarily sculpts his works, but they are almost always painted with oil paint to increase the realistic feel. He also paints with oil on canvas and watercolors. Most of the motifs are from our flora and fauna, and it is works with such a focus that are included in the exhibition The Forest here in Bodens konsthall. The exhibition is Hansson's first in Bodens konsthall. The selection and design of the room in the exhibition was carried out by the artist himself and by Einar Norén Selberg and Beatrice Sigfridsson at the Försvarsmuseum.

Gunnar Hansson lives and works in Antnäs south of Luleå and has created numerous projects in the surrounding area that can be discovered on forest walks or bike rides. Hansson has had several exhibitions over the years, but has mostly appeared in craft contexts and toured markets. In the art context, the exhibitions have been less frequent, but you may remember Carl Johan de Geer and Norrbottniska Uttryck which were shown at Havremagasinet in 2013, when a statue of Zlatan attracted attention. Later he has also portrayed other sports stars, among others you can see Charlotte Kalla cast in bronze if you visit her hometown of Tärendö. Gunnar Hansson didn't get passing grades in craft. Now he works daily with his art in wood in the old school where he learned to read and write.
